2025/26 - Envision Financial Division 1
Envision Financial Division 1 is for intermediate to advanced youth curlers looking for competitive play. These curlers should be planning to play in provincial level events such as the BC Winter Games, the U18 or U20 provincials. Maximum age: you must be eligible to play in the U20 BC Provincials (no more than 20 years of age on or before December 31, 2025).
Typically curlers are aged 13-20 in this league, but it varies from year to year based on skill and ability.
To be eligible for Division 1 all curlers must participate in a club's junior curling program. All teams must be endorsed by the junior coordinator or the manager of a curling club or curling program. It is the responsibility of the junior coordinator or manager to confirm that all team members are participants in a junior program.
Team registration deadline: August 31st, 2025 Players must have been added to the team roster by September 7th, 2025 - NEW THIS YEAR - with the move to online registration, please email this to all of the players/guardians on your team and have them add themselves to the league via CurlingIO. After listening to feedback from players, coaches and junior coordinators, Division 1 games will be played at multiple clubs this season, travelling throughout the lower mainland to give players experience on different ice surfaces and in different club environments.
All game days will be double headers. All games are currently scheduled to take place on Sundays, and our goal is to keep it this way. The schedule has been made to try to accommodate all junior tour events, junior bonspiels, and junior events such as Rockfest West, BC Winter Games, BC U18 and BCU20 provincials.

October 26 - Development games and drills day - Richmond Curling Club (TBC)
November 2 - Games 3 and 4 - Abbotsford Curling Club, 8:30 am start of first practice
November 16 - Games 5 and 6 - Marpole Curling Club, 9:20 am start of first practice (TBC)
December 14 - Games 7 and 8 - Richmond Curling Club (TBC)

Combined League Wind-up, divisions 1 and 2 year end celebration

This schedule will be updated as ice bookings are confirmed. As you can see we are looking for ice for the second half of the season. If your club would like to host a Division 1 double header, please connect us. (email admin@optimistjuniorcurling.ca)
There is space for a maximum of 12 teams in this league. Registration will be prioritized by: 1 - Returning teams: teams that curled in Division 1 last year. 2 - New teams with returning players: a new team, but with one or more individuals that played in Division 1 last year. 3 - New teams: teams with no players that have previously played in Division 1. 4 - Order of registration: after accounting for returning teams and new teams with returning players, teams will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
This league is primarily run by volunteers. Please encourage all of the parents, guardians and players to consider how they might be able to best help run the league. We are asking each team to please provide the name of at least one person that is able to assist in some way during the year on game days or at other times (for example with tasks related to the end of year celebration). Please put this person's details in the Team Volunteer fields that will come up when you go through the registration process.
